It will insert the UUID at the location of the caret in the current active editor, replace any existing text selection if there is one, and generate multiple UUIDs and insert them all when a multi-cursor selection is active. This extension works as expected when inserting a new UUID into the active text editor. Through configuration settings, it is possible to wrap the created UUID with braces or quotes when it is created, for example: Insert a new 'nil' UUID (where all the digits are 0).The other way to run the commands is from the command palette by pressing ( Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P on Mac), typing UUID and selecting the desired function. By default, the keyboard binding is Alt+Shift+U. The Insert new UUID function is available from the editor context menu, or as a keyboard binding. This extension supports creating a new version 4 UUID and then either adding it to the current location in the active editor, or placing it on the clipboard.

One useful case for this extension is to create UUIDs for configuring new profiles for Windows Terminal.

Technically, there's a chance that the random UUID we choose is the same UUID as of a player and this might cause problems, but since there're 3.4*10^38 UUIDs but less then 200 million accounts, I hardly doubt this will ever happen ^^įeel free to join the Minecraft-Heads Discord if would like to have further support. This extension generates Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) values and will either insert them into the current active editor, or place them on the clipboard.

If it's a player, it uses the UUID of this player, but if not, it needs a random any other UUID for it. Minecraft basically binds the texture to a UUID. You can only mean the HeadDatabase here: The HeadDatabase plugin dont use the UUIDs from the website, it generates them newly every time you use the plugin, so this can surely cause this behaviour.īUT: The UUID might be random, however it's still essential to have one. You told that the UUID is also not consistent "if you obtain the give command for the same texture twice". We on Minecraft-Heads generate a random UUID with every new submitted head and save it since it's easier to save it then to generate it newly every time. The UUID is totally random, but it is necessary. Hi, as the owner of I can hopefully give a satisfying answer: So, question for anyone who knows the internal workings of the game, is the SkullOwner Id totally irrelevant if the texture Value string is already provided and can it be omitted entirely in that case?Įdit to add: If I use /give minecraft:player_head to get a head without the pre-specified Id and texture value so that the game has to go and look them up, it generates the Id in the new format.

I get the head textures from and I've noticed in the past that the Id is essentially a random number, not the UUID of the player whose skin was used to get the head texture in the first place and not consistent if you obtain the give command for the same texture twice. The dropped player head has the correct texture either way and the SkullOwner Id is held in whichever format is given in the loot tables.

I just started looking at updating a datapack that adds head drops for all mobs ("more mob heads" from Vanilla Tweaks) to use the new format for UUIDs - an integer array instead of a hexadecimal string - and I've found that the loot tables work with either data format.
